Bio:
Jon Offredo is a 25-year-old multimedia journalist living and working on Cape Cod. Originally from Newtown, Pa. (right out outside of Philadelphia), Jon completed his undergraduate in News-Editorial Journalism at West Virginia University with a fairly respectable GPA, a degree and a pocketful of free Chinese food vouchers. Then he went on to get a graduate degree in International Multimedia Journalism from Newcastle University in the United Kingdom. Why, he still doesn’t know, but the football was excellent and the pubs even better. Then, somehow, he ended up working the night desk at the Cape Cod Times in Massachusetts, where he resides now.
Since he was 16, Jon has worked as a journalist in some form or another and prefers the irreverent and the interesting, to the big front page stories. He’s covered everything from student protests, 18-wheeler truck driving competitions, cat shows and chili cook-offs; to the Royal Wedding in London. He’s waded through pools looking for crustaceans, forests (and Provincetown) looking for a black bear, dodged police clubs, wiped away pepper spray, sought the meaning of America in the UK and learned about life all along the way. He also designed this web site and found it incredibly difficult to write in the third person and not be sarcastic.
Jon’s work has appeared in a variety of media outlets including the Cape Cod Times, BBC, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, The Newcastle Evening Chronicle, Journal and Sunday Sun; The Charleston Gazette, The Daily Athenaeum and Under the Influence magazine. Jon has also had submitted work published on the Guardian.co.uk and thetimes.co.uk.
Jon is available for freelance work.
